Jana Sharafaldeen Zahraa Baydoun Non communicable Diseases “Cancers….Cardiovascular diseases….Respiratory diseases…Diabetes…”were the leading causes of NCD’s deaths in 2008(WHO objective 6 of ,2008 2013).Non communicable diseases, are also known as chronic diseases, directed to be of long duration, and are the results of combination of genetic, physiological, enviromantal, and behaviors factors.Mrs Hala Aloea the speaker that visited us at class showed us percentages of mortality caused by NCD’s which’s really considered a dangoures diseases that must be fighted . By focusing on behavior’s risk factors, its shown that some behaviors such as tobacco use ,physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol, unhealthy diet increases the risk of NCD’s (WHO, n.d). Tobacco behavior is really a high risk for NCD’s. Tobacco accounts for 7.2 million deaths every year ,and its projected to be increased over the coming years (GBD,2015),in Lebanon 38.5% from men and women has the risk factor of NCD’s caused from cigarette(NCP lebanon,2016).And its acknowledged that cigarette affects both the innate and adoptive immune arms(International Journal of Cancer ,1999),which are considered the first line of defense against many common microorganism ,and are essential for the control of common bacterial infections ,so as a result damaging such immune arms leads the person to be more exposed to infectious diseases such as : Acinettobactor …Actinomycosis Burkholderia…infections with no proper defense. Moreover smokers are at greater risk for diseases that affect the heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular disease) because smoking damages blood vessels and make them thicken and grow narrow, this make the heart beat faster and blood pressure go up (CDC,2014).Then all these mentioned diseases caused from tobacco are examples of NCD’s. Strong evidence showed that physical inactivity increases the risk of many adverse health conditions, including the NCD’s.Physical inactivities can increases resting blood pressure and decreases the capacity to carry blood in the coronary arteries (Ains worth,eta.2000). Additionally recent studies confirm that physical inactivity is an important contributor to obesity especially among childhood ,daibetes, hypertension, heart diseases, colon cancer, breast cancer, premature death(Katcher 2002) ,and according to Lebanon data the risk factor of of NCD;s caused from low level of physical activity is 45.5% for both males and females(NCP lebanon,2016). Another study showed that approximately 3.2 million people die each year due to physical inactivity(WHO, objective 6 2008 2013).So physical activity is very important to prevent NCD’s especially because it keeps the body cells active. Finally unhealthy diet behavior is a major leader for NCD’s.Unhealthy diet is considered one of the major risk factors for a range of cronic disease including cancer, diabetes, strokes and other conditions linked to obesity because the individual is more exposed to salt ,sugar fats and less to eating more fruits, vegetable, legumes, nuts and grain(WHO,n.d).Lebanon data stated that the risk factor of NCD’s from both obese and overweight is 65.5 among both males and females(NCP&PCP lebanon,2016).And among the world at least 2.8 million people are dying each year as a result of being overweight or obese(WHO, objective 6 2008 20013). As a conclusion, individuals should pay attention to their behavior so that they can minimize the risk of being exposed to NCD’s.More than that government has a main role to play in such case by making policy interventions such as :taxation provision for public education, advertising and restrictions, because the first wealth is health(Ralf Waldo Emerson).
